7 Days Mt Elgon Hike & Kidepo Park Tour
7 days (6 nights) Mountain Elgon hiking trip plus a game viewing in Kidepo valley park. Trip ends in Gulu town
Day 1: Arrival
On arrival you will be picked from the airport by Tour representative who will transfer you to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Kampala- Mount Elgon National Park
After breakfast you will be picked from your hotel by our company driver guide from and drive to Mbale via Jinja and Tirinyi which is about 256km 3 hours. From Mbale to Budadiri its 30km 1 hour, From Mbale to Sipi Falls is about 66km 1 and a half hours. From Sipi Falls to Kapkwai its 45km 1 and a half hours. Relax the rest of the afternoon as you prepare for the next day’s hike. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 3: Drive to Budadiri
After breakfast you will drive to Budadiri from where you will start hiking. You will pass via sasa river camp-2900m high proceed to Mude Camp which is 3500m high. You will spend an overnight at Mude camp.
Day 4: Hike to Wagagai peak – Kidepo national park
You will have breakfast and then climb from Mude camp to Wagagai Peak which is 4,321 m high. This will take about 4 hours. Later you will descend and then drive Kidepo valley national park passing through the Karamoja region and Kitgum dischettah-kidepotrict. You will have lunch on arrival. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 5: Game drive
Breakfast and then go for a very early morning game drive to catch up with the early risers such as lions, and leopards. Other animals to be spotted include Bat-eared Fox, Stripped Hyena, Cheetah, Caracal Lesser, Greater Kudu, Roan Antelope, Besia Oryx, Eland, Defassa Waterbuck, Oribi, Bohor Reedbuck, and Jacksons Hartebeest, Rothchilds Giraffe and Burchell’s Zebra, Lions, white Buffalo and Elephants which can be seen in Narus Valley. You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon visit the local communities and do activities with them like milking of the cows and participating in their traditional dances. Dinner and overnight as above.
Day 6: Kidepo National Park-Gulu town
Breakfast and drive back to Gulu Town which is about 3-4 hours. You will have lunch upon arrival. Dinner and overnight in Gulu town.
Day 7: Gulu-Kampala
Have breakfast and then drive back to Kampala.
